MYM has been publishing Muslim writers since 2007. More than 480 pieces sit on this site now, and most of them are by people who had never published anything anywhere before.
Nearly everyone who makes that happen is a volunteer. Our editors read submissions, run workshops, and sit on one-to-one calls with writers, and some of them have been doing it for well over a decade. Donations do not pay them. Donations cover the things goodwill cannot: printing the books, paying the illustrators, running the cohort, and keeping this site standing.
What a gift covers
- $25 puts a copy of Hand Me Down Your Revolution in a young writer’s hands.
- $199 carries one writer through a full cohort season, from application to Showcase Night.
- $5,000 takes a finished manuscript all the way into print.
Any amount is welcome. The form opens at $50, and you can change it to whatever you like.
Sponsor a writer in someone’s name
Masjids, schools, and families can fund a named scholarship. It covers one writer’s full season, and the scholarship carries whatever name you choose, whether that is your organization, a teacher, or someone you have lost. If that is something you would like to do, write to us and we will set it up with you.
Other ways to help
Buy a book. Send a piece you liked to someone who would like it too. Point a writer who has nowhere to send their work in our direction. These matter more than people tend to think.

MYM Literature is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our EIN is 92-0616448. Gifts are tax deductible to the extent the law allows, and Stripe will email you a receipt as soon as you give.
