Allah Wills It

When Allah wills something good for you,
He’ll make a flower bloom out of hardened cement.
When you’re desperate for relief,
He’ll put your heart on the mend.

When the world stands against you, and the people you put your trust in
Betray you in the worst of ways,
Forcing you to bend to their will,
You feel your eyes well up with tears of grief and despair.

When the only connection you have remaining is with God,
You talk—oh, you talk your heart out…
And in a verse so beautifully soul-stirring
You remember, He says
“Allah does not place two hearts in any person’s chest.”
And no, this isn’t a test.

When you long for a connection with a Being closer to you than your jugular vein,
You can spend your days and nights in the quiet splendor of the joy that comes with being in khalwa,
And never, not once,
Feel the need for another.

The world comes to a halt at a point in time when everything ceases to live,
When all that remains is the dead of the night between the Heavens and the Earth.

And your Lord says,
“Rise at the last part of the night, offering additional prayers…
So your Lord may raise you to a station of praise.”

And you go ahead and obey…
Because when Allah wills something good for you,
There is nothing that can hinder that plan
If Allah doesn’t will it.

While her workload rarely leaves her enough time to engage in a hobby, she considers reading and writing her favorite pastimes. Nothing beats a Harry Potter book with a cup of coffee, no matter how old you are (she has convinced herself that she'll read the Lord of the Rings series any day now)
