I** Cease fire **

In the loud cries of the night,
The silence is catching up to the noise.

The stuttering words have found their rhythm,
Weaving stories from one heart to the other.

The afternoon sun has peaked its warmth,
Yet it knows to enliven and not be blinding to the sight.

We dare to let go of the captive air.
We soak in deep our quiet, shallow breaths.

We allow our ears to now listen to a soothing hum
As we learn to tune out another uproar.

The aroma of comfort foods is starting to waft through
The ashes and piles of burnt wounds.

We cast our eyes to find our baton
As the sun rises on a newborn horizon.

The agony of the past, the fear of the future
Have entangled me right here in this moment.

This dream has comforted me over and over again
Yet I am forced to keep my eyes closed for fear of losing its rein.

In the quiet after the storm,
I look to my Lord…and beg!

For a little more potion of faith,
And He showers my soul with a solace unseen.
