if ever one life was placed before
the other, radiant and beaming forth
then paths of grass would justly be laid
instead of roads, cemented and paved
if screeching tires and busy roads
left broken limbs and hues of rose
then fleet-footed creatures would hold their flight
to stave the tears of regretful nights
if glassy eyes were beheld in time
like the twinkling glimmer of stars in the sky
then only moonlight would grace its glow
instead of headlights, harsh and yellow
if the rush of motors could cease its roar
to return the quiet nights were meant to hold
then mourning regret would stay behind
to hold vigil for voiceless cries
if softness ruled in gentle measure
the warmth of fur and heart of mettle
then comfort gotten held its form
instead of sorrow, built and born
if man could halt his dominating cruelty
destroying verdant abodes of peace and plenty
then careful critters could make their homesÂ
without fear of violence or losing their souls
if oceans mourned in measured drops
the silent tears that never stopped
then tender hands could bear to hold
the lifeless body and aching soul

Amazing job with your eulogy. It’s a reminder we can always incorporate more nature in the sphere of our control. To bring back things to how it should be. Haunting piece that will ring for a long time to come.
