Loneliness

Pinterest LinkedIn

loneliness
what a contradictory thing
to wake up to an empty
bed
to sit across
air
to say nothing, allowing for your tongue to numb
as it sits in your mouth wanting to
speak

it’s a haunting thing, really
loneliness
it keeps you
awake
while also making you drift off to an empty sleep

it’s a beautiful thing, really
loneliness
it makes the hugs feel all the more
special
conversations all the more
desirable
laughs all the more
contagious

it comes and goes
in the door (out the door)
hello (goodbye)
see you soon (see you later)
loneliness
will stay with me
until
you stay
