Is it my fault though?Â
For wanting someone who will recognize my melancholic smile?
For wanting someone to share the heartache that is life with?Â
For wanting someone who will steal glances at me when I’m not paying attentionÂ
The same way I do with themÂ
Because I can’t possibly absorb their beauty completelyÂ
So all I can do is keep tryingÂ
I don’t know if this poem is about a person I’m imaginingÂ
or the city that I’m living inÂ
It brings out all of meÂ
The best and the worst of meÂ
The beauty and the pain in meÂ
Is it my fault that I never want the ferry ride to end?Â
That I want to sail endlesslyÂ
In a sea of intersecting worlds and incomprehensible wonderÂ
Between the clouds and the wavesÂ
Suspended by the rules of buoyancy and densityÂ
Not really, but almost defying gravityÂ
Just close enough to believe that to fly is not so close to dreams as it is to realityÂ
But sleep is not foreverÂ
So to wake up is inevitableÂ
And the brief escape must endÂ
AlwaysÂ
Rise and continue the journeyÂ
They say that therein lies true braveryÂ
So here’s to making it through the maze of heady hope turned to hopeless hazeÂ
Here’s to taking on the unpredictable quest, day by dayÂ
