When I should die
Do not grieve for my soul
Know that I am with my Lord
Decreed just when He foretold
That my life’s chapter should close
When I should die
I pray that the angels greet me
That my soul leaves my body easily
And when my heart stops beating
The shahada is the last sound that leaves me
When I should die
Please gently shut my eyes
Clean my body and dress me in white
Linger by my grave for a while
Delay the questioning for some time
When I should die
I know the questions that will be asked
They will assess how I spent my past
Was Allah my first priority or my last
On Islam and the Prophet (SAW) was I steadfast
When I should die
Pray that my sins will be swept away
That I pass the test of the grave
That my book lands in my right hand on that Day
And my soul goes willingly when He calls my name
