Top of the Rock

endless sea sparkling
twinkle of magic
that takes my breath away
i’ve always loved city lights

look, look
the orange moon
overlooking
thousands of buildings
some touch the night sky
glimpses of roads in between
and sprinkles of green
on rooftops
and on edges, squeezed
in between
overpopulation
city of dreams

dreams—
      or horrors unseen

Rafah right now
is ten times the density
of NYC

can you see, can you see?

  1. The rhyming gives it this really cool flow, and i love how succinct it was but at the same time it makes me want to reread it so many times… the contrast is fast and jarring, and I feel like it really touches on the ‘parallel reality’ aspect of being outsiders to a genocide that many of us are living… subhanAllah. May Allah lift the horrors from our people and use us in that path.
